BIPPO and Partners Host Chaozhou Tea Gathering Session
Date : 02/06/2023
At the beginning of June, PwC, BIPPO Family Office, Council International Auction (Hong Kong), and Xiao Qiong Da Fu (小瓊大富) jointly presented a special cultural event — the “Under the Phoenix Mountain” Chaozhou Tea Gathering — held at One Shenzhen Bay Art Centre.
The event comprised two parts: a tea-sharing session and a cultural showcase. Guests gathered to savour fine tea and music, sharing conversation over art and culture. Through appreciation, dialogue, and reflection, participants experienced the rich heritage of Lingdong culture and explored how it intersects with the century-old traditions of global private wealth management and family office practices. The event also delved into new expressions of Chaozhou culture and family legacy building in the modern era.
The tea dialogue began with a keynote sharing titled “Carrying the Legacy Forward — A Chaozhou Second-Generation Entrepreneur’s Journey of Cultural Roots,” where a distinguished Chaozhou entrepreneur reflected on family heritage, entrepreneurial experiences, and the dual inheritance of spiritual and material wealth.
Industry experts from multiple sectors — including tax compliance, family office and offshore trust management, art investment, Web3 and digital assets, immigration planning, and overseas education — offered in-depth insights, providing guests with a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities in modern private wealth and family succession planning.
Adding to the cultural richness of the event, the organisers were honoured to welcome a Chaozhou Gongfu Tea master, a national intangible cultural heritage inheritor, and a renowned guqin musician, who performed the “Twenty-One Techniques of Gongfu Tea” and a live guqin recital, creating an immersive sensory experience. Guests were also treated to tastings of the 300-year-old Phoenix Dancong “Bamboo Leaf” tea, a rare and treasured varietal.
Coinciding with the event, the Chaozhou Traditional and Greater Bay Area Contemporary Art Exhibition opened on the same day, with guests attending the inaugural showcase. The evening concluded with the “Chaozhou Totem” Charity Auction, featuring exclusive reservation rights for the rare Phoenix Dancong tea, with proceeds dedicated to charitable causes.
